NOVÁ HUŤ expands its lineup of low-emission steel products

Ostrava, September 16, 2026 – The first billets made of low-emission steel from the Norwegian manufacturer 7 Steel Nordic have arrived in Ostrava. Nová Huť is using them at its Medium Section Mill to produce a wide range of steel sections for the construction, energy, and engineering industries.

Nová Huť has established a partnership with 7 Steel Nordic, which produces steel from recycled scrap in electric arc furnaces. These furnaces, located in Mo i Rana, Norway, are powered by electricity from hydroelectric plants. According to the manufacturer, this allows the steel produced to achieve emissions that are up to 97% lower than those of steel produced using traditional methods.

The first shipments of billets have already arrived in Ostrava, and the material is being processed at the Medium Section Mill. More than 500 different section dimensions are produced from this material—ranging from rebar and threaded bars for the construction and geotechnical sectors to angle bars and other sections for the energy and engineering sectors.

“I believe that the collaboration with 7 Steel Nordic will benefit both companies. By combining green steel from Norway with our know-how, we can offer customers top-quality products with a minimal carbon footprint,” says Michal Bubík, Sales Director of Nová Huť.

Lower Carbon Footprint, Wide Product Range, and Availability

The partnership with 7 Steel Nordic expands Nová Huť options for sourcing raw materials while supporting its long-term commitment to low-emission steel production.

For customers, this represents another opportunity to obtain steel products with a significantly lower carbon footprint. At the same time, Nová Huť wide product range and warehouse capacity allow it to respond flexibly to customer requests and deliver finished products without unnecessary delays.

Thanks to processing in Ostrava, Norwegian low-emission steel thus finds another use, and Nová Huť customers gain a new way to reduce the carbon footprint of their steel products.
