Ostrava, October 16, 2026 – High-quality raw materials are one of the fundamental prerequisites for stable production and the quality of the resulting steel products. Nová Huť is therefore expanding its cooperation with trusted suppliers, which now includes the Slovak company Železiarne Podbrezová. Its billets are one of the raw materials used in production at Nová Huťs Medium Section Mill.

The billets supplied from Slovakia meet the required production standards and contribute to the smooth operation and stability of production. Železiarne Podbrezová produces steel from recycled steel scrap in an electric arc furnace. It is then processed in a ladle furnace, where its chemical composition is precisely adjusted to achieve the required quality parameters.

“For our production, not only is the quality of the raw material important, but also the reliability of its supply. Our partnership with Železiarne Podbrezová makes sense for us in both respects. Another advantage is their geographical proximity, which allows us to respond flexibly to the needs of production and our customers,” says Radek Strouhal, CEO of Nová Huť.

The proximity of the two production plants also means shorter logistics routes and faster material transport. In times of fluctuating demand, flexible logistics can thus be a key factor in planning production and customer deliveries.

The collaboration with Železiarne Podbrezová is part of Nová Huťs long-term approach, which is based on stable supplier relationships and the selection of high-quality, proven partners.

Železiarne Podbrezová is one of Slovakia’s traditional manufacturers of steel and steel products. The company produces steel using an electric arc furnace, with recycled steel scrap as the primary raw material. Subsequent processing in a ladle furnace allows the company to achieve the desired parameters for the final steel product.
