Ostrava, April 13, 2026 – NOVÁ HUŤ donated a total of 29 school desks to the Secondary School of Electrical Engineering in Ostrava. The furniture came from the company’s former training center, where it was no longer needed. Instead of disposing of it, the company decided to give the desks a second life by donating them to a school where they can continue to serve students.

“When renovating our facilities, we faced the decision of what to do with the equipment we no longer needed. It was natural for us to seek a meaningful solution. We are glad that the desks will find a new home at the school and help improve the learning environment for students,” says Andrea Ševěčková, Director of Human Resources and Legal Affairs at NOVÁ HUŤ.

The donation stems from previous collaboration between the school and the steel company, and NOVÁ HUŤ is naturally continuing this tradition and would like to further develop it in the future.

“We greatly appreciate this donation and the interest shown in our school. We will put the desks to immediate use in our classes. At the same time, we are pleased that this opens the door to further collaboration with a major regional employer, which can be beneficial not only for the school but, above all, for our students,” says Tomáš Führer, principal of the Secondary School of Electrical Engineering in Ostrava.

In addition to the desks themselves, Ostrava-based NOVÁ HUŤ also arranged for their transport directly to the school grounds; the company’s firefighters were then responsible for unloading them on site. David Steker, head of the fire and rescue brigade, represented the company at the donation ceremony.
