NOVÁ HUŤ invested nearly 6 million crowns in modernizing its seamless pipe inspection process
Ostrava, August 3, 2026 – NOVÁ HUŤ has completed the modernization of the non-destructive testing line for seamless pipes at the pipe mill. The investment, worth nearly 6 million crowns, has introduced new technology that will increase testing accuracy, ensure better reproducibility of results, and enable archive measurements in accordance with the latest technical standards.
“The modernization of the inspection line is another step in our long-term program to renew our production technologies. The new equipment will enable us to perform even more precise quality control, achieve greater reliability of results, and at the same time ensure compliance with the increasingly demanding requirements of our customers as well as international technical standards,” says Radek Strouhal, CEO of NOVÁ HUŤ.
The new technology replaced equipment that had been in operation for nearly 30 years. The renovation included the replacement of the line’s main components, the test bench, the pressure rollers, and the entire control system. The modernized line is already in regular operation and performs mandatory non-destructive testing of seamless pipes with diameters ranging from 21.3 to 60.3 millimeters using the eddy current method.
The new technology enables more accurate and repeatable detection of potential surface defects in the pipes while also meeting the latest technical standards for archiving measurement results.
In 2025 alone, approximately 4,333 kilometers of seamless pipes passed through this line. NOVÁ HUŤ supplies customers virtually worldwide, primarily in European markets. The line primarily inspects boiler tubes, structural tubes, seamless tubes, and tubes designed for low-temperature operation.
The new technology was supplied by Ingeteam. The modernization of the Defektomat underscores NOVÁ HUŤ ongoing investment in improving production quality and the company’s competitiveness.
